Buenos Aires: Messi, the star player of the Argentine football team, has opened up about playing in the upcoming World Cup 2026 series. He said this while giving an interview to an Argentinian newspaper.
All athletes want their team to win. Needless to say, it was a World Cup-style series. The urge to win the trophy is like the heartbeat of every player. That and if Messi plays in it, it will include the pulse of his millions of fans along with him.
Last December, Messi made the World Cup dream a reality with the same passion. He led the Argentina team effectively, scoring 7 goals in the series and winning the trophy. He also reversed his decision to retire after the final.
“It is very difficult to play in the 2026 World Cup series because of my age. It still has a long way to go. I love playing football. If I am fit and have the same taste, I will definitely continue it. But it will depend on the course of my career,” said Messi.
The Argentina coach also said last month that he believes Messi will play in the next World Cup. He also said that his doors of opportunity are always open.
