The attack on a military plant in Iranian Isfahan was carried out by Israel. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on Sunday, January 29, citing US officials.
Israel has launched a covert drone strike on a defense complex in Iran as the US and Israel seek new ways to curb Tehran’s nuclear and military ambitions.
It is noted that the strike was carried out near a facility belonging to the Iranian Space Research Center, which was subject to US sanctions for its work on Iran’s ballistic missile program.
A powerful explosion thundered at a military plant in Isfahan on the night of January 29. It was noted that there were no casualties as a result of the incident. Iranian authorities launched an investigation into the causes of the explosion.
The Russian Embassy in Iran reported that on the evening of January 28, around 23:30, an attack was made on the plant using drones. It was clarified that as a result of the operation of the air defense system (air defense), one drone was shot down, two more devices were intercepted and destroyed.
The Al Arabiya TV channel said that the United States and “another country” struck the plant. According to the channel, the strike was intended to “demonstrate to Iran and Russia” the US readiness to oppose the construction of factories “for the production and export of ballistic weapons.”
In turn, the Iranian agency IRNA accused Israel of a media attack against the backdrop of incidents in Iran. According to media reports, Israel allegedly tried to link the drone attack on the plant with an earthquake and an explosion at a motor oil factory in the city of Azarshahr to destabilize the situation in the country.
At the same time, the Israeli Foreign Ministry refused to comment on the incident in Iran.
