New Delhi. Elon Musk, owner of social media platform
Before launching this change globally, the company is testing it in New Zealand and the Philippines. In both countries, new users will have to pay one dollar to create an account.
Musk posted, “Read for free, but a dollar/year to write. “This is the only way to fight bots without blocking real users.”
“It won’t stop bots completely, but it will make it a thousand times harder to manipulate the platform,” he said.
According to X, this has been done to fight bots.
Ax said the new move, part of the so-called “Not a Bot” program, is designed to “boost our already important efforts to reduce spam, manipulation and bot activity on our platform.”
This new program is in addition to the main subscription of X, which costs eight dollars per month.
X (formerly Twitter) is also reportedly planning to split its premium paid membership service into three membership tiers to make more money and become profitable by 2024.
According to reports, X will split the existing eight-dollar premium membership into three different plans at different price points: Basic, Standard, and Plus.
The entry-level Basic plan will not reduce the number of ads users see on the platform.
The Standard tier will show half the ads and the top Plus Premium offering removes ads completely and can cost more than eight dollars per month.
