In the Danbury prison (Connecticut, USA), where the Russian pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko is being held, quarantine was again introduced due to the spread of the coronavirus. The wife of the Russian, Victoria Yaroshenko, spoke about this on December 25.
“They quarantined again, they are not allowed to go anywhere. They just started to release them, it went on for a week, now they are sitting in cells again, ”TASS quoted her as saying.
At the same time, Victoria stressed that her husband continues to experience health problems. According to her, he is not getting better, and he is not provided with medical assistance in prison.
Earlier, the Russian has repeatedly complained about the deteriorating health. According to his wife, the pilot is experiencing problems with blood pressure. In addition, he has severe toothaches. At the same time, his complaints were ignored in the prison medical unit.
So, on October 19, Yaroshenko once again complained about the lack of dental care in an American prison.
In September, Russian diplomats visited the pilot in prison. At the end of the visit, the Russian embassy called on the United States authorities to provide medical assistance to Yaroshenko and other Russians in American prisons.
In the same month, a court in New York rejected a motion by Yaroshenko’s defense to release him for health reasons. A Russian has been unable to receive medical assistance since March 2021. It was noted that only a gynecologist remained to work in the prison where he is serving time.
In turn, Konstantin Yaroshenko pointed to the groundlessness of the court’s refusal in the United States to release him for health reasons. In making such a decision, the authorities ignore indisputable arguments, he said.
Konstantin Yaroshenko was arrested by US law enforcement officials in Liberia in May 2010 on charges of preparing to transport a large consignment of cocaine. He was later deported to the United States, where on September 7, 2011, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Moscow denies the guilt of the Russian and calls the case fabricated.
