The National Youth Jiu-Jitsu Team, sponsored by Mubadala Investment Company, concluded its participation in the Jiu-Jitsu World Cup in Zadar, Croatia, the night before yesterday.
The UAE champions managed to win 18 colored medals (five gold, six silver and seven bronze medals) in the championship, which was held in its second edition and organized by the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation, with the participation of more than 350 male and female players from 24 countries.
Khalfan Al Qubaisi, Saif Al Ameri, Obaid Al Ketbi, Ahmed Andiz, and Saeed Al Nuaimi won the gold, while the silver medals went to: Ahmed Al Ketbi, Hamdan Al Najjar, Hamdan Al Dhaheri, Yousef Al Khouri, Salem Al Hamoud, and Salem Al Qubaisi. The bronze medals were won by: Saud Al Balushi, Maid Al Hosani, Mansour Al Kaabi, Zayed Al Hammadi, Hazza Al Kaabi, Abdullah Andiz, and Abdullah Al Darmaki.
The Secretary-General of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, Fahad Al Shamsi, said: “Our champions wrote a new line of success and excellence in the UAE’s record of achievements, and presented honorable levels that led to the championship’s leadership.”
For his part, champion Obaid Al Ketbi, who won the gold medal in the under 52kg weight class, said: “I am proud of this achievement and of winning a gold medal in a world championship, and raising the UAE flag in front of the world. This achievement reflects the long hours of training and the great effort of the coaches. I dedicate this victory to our wise leadership, to my coaches, colleagues and all Emiratis, and I look forward to winning more medals in upcoming championships.”
