EU sanctions imposed on the president of the Research Institute of Emergency Children’s Surgery and Traumatology Leonid Roshal are blasphemy. However, it is precisely this that allows us to determine “where is the light and where is the darkness,” said on Saturday, February 25, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
“He (Leonid Roshal. – Ed.) is like Dr. Aibolit held hostage by pirates,” she wrote in her Telegram channel.
According to Zakharova, the reason for such an act is, among other things, ignorance, anger and hatred on the part of the West.
“I think there is another reason for this. Such blasphemy should finally demonstrate where the light is and where the darkness is, ”the message says.
On February 25, the European Union agreed on the 10th package of anti-Russian sanctions. This time, the process of agreeing on restrictive measures was difficult. The Canadian authorities on the same day imposed sanctions against 129 individuals and 63 organizations from Russia.
On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a message to the Federal Assembly, said that sanctions are a means by which the West, by its own admission, wants to make Russian citizens suffer. According to him, the Russian economy and management system turned out to be much stronger than the West thought.
Western countries have stepped up sanctions pressure on Russia against the backdrop of a special military operation to protect the population of Donbass. The decision to start it was made by Russian President Vladimir Putin against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to Ukrainian shelling.
