Brussels’ statements following the summit with Ukraine crossed out the principles on which the European Union (EU) itself was built many years ago, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on February 4, according to a message on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
According to her, the event held in Kyiv once again confirmed that in order to weaken Russia and serve the hegemonic aspirations of the US and NATO, the EU continues to support the neo-Nazi regime in Kyiv.
“Suggesting him (Kyiv. – Ed.) a European perspective, in violation of his own standard requirements for European candidates and declaring the “common values” of the EU with him, is in solidarity with the total suppression of dissent, trampling on freedom of speech and expression, a gross violation of linguistic and confessional rights in Ukraine” , the diplomat pointed out.
Zakharova noted that the EU at the same time cynically “reaffirms” in a joint statement following the summit “commitment to full respect for the rights of persons belonging to minorities.”
“This completely crosses out the principles on which the EU was once built,” the diplomat noted.
