Tomorrow, Friday, the ninth edition of the Zayed Charity Race will begin in the New Administrative Capital of the Arab Republic of Egypt, under the patronage of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and with wide participation from all age groups, for a distance of 10 km for professionals and amateurs, and 4 km for people of determination, and it has been allocated Financial prizes amounting to 20 million Egyptian pounds for the male and female first-place winners in various categories.
It was announced that the proceeds of the race, which bears the name of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, will be allocated to support the Children’s Cancer Hospital “57357” in Cairo, and a draw will be held in the race for 200 double Umrah trips.
The organizing committee has approved the race program, with the arrival of the contestants starting at seven o’clock tomorrow morning (Friday), in preparation for the start of the competitions at eight o’clock, arriving at the final station at ten o’clock in the morning, and then holding the ceremony for crowning the winners and distributing the prizes allocated to them at ten-thirty in the morning.
The registration process and receipt of racing uniforms from the designated centers in the last two days witnessed a large turnout from various age groups, which embodies the status and leadership of the race, and its values in supporting charitable and humanitarian works, providing assistance to patients and hospitals, and providing medical equipment.
Preparations are complete
The organizing committee announced the completion of preparations for the launch of the event in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports, the UAE Embassy in the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and all the specialized committees whose formation was announced, under the follow-up of His Excellency Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports.
Lieutenant General Mohamed Hilal Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee of the Zayed Charity Race, extended his thanks and appreciation to His Excellency Abdel Fattah El Sisi, President of the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt, for his sponsorship of the event, and the great efforts made by Egypt in supporting the success of the race, and consolidating its historical role in supporting its humanitarian goals, as an embodiment of For the distinguished relations between the two brotherly countries.
He praised the diligent follow-up of Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, the Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, and his continuous directives to provide all requirements for the success of the race.
Lieutenant General “M” Al Kaabi thanked Maryam Khalifa Al Kaabi, the UAE Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt, and its permanent representative to the League of Arab States, for the embassy’s efforts in coordination and cooperation to hold the race, and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the organizing committee and the partners for their tangible efforts.
He expressed his pride in what this race has achieved since its launch in its first edition in Cairo in 2014, and the allocation of its proceeds, which amounted to $15.8 million in that edition, to the benefit of “57357” Hospital, to relieve the pain of children with cancer and treat them, expressing his aspiration that the proceeds of its current edition will meet the requirements. This hospital is intended to purchase modern medical equipment and carry out new expansions according to the plan determined by the competent authorities in the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt.
For his part, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Arif Hamad Al Awani, expressed his pride in the noble message embodied by the Zayed Charity Race, noting that it represents an extension of the path of goodness and giving, which is one of the foundations of the approach of the UAE since its founding.
He praised the preparations that are underway to organize the ninth edition in the New Administrative Capital, with the participation of tens of thousands who will gather to support the message of giving, stressing that the anticipated event reflects the values of humanity, solidarity, tolerance and goodness.
He added that the Zayed Charity Race achieves its noble goal, as participants of all ages race in an inspiring atmosphere, highlighting the spirit that the UAE has followed in spreading goodness and promoting human values around the world.
The Zayed Charity Race in Egypt was launched in 2014 in Cairo, which also hosted the second and third editions in 2015 and 2016, then Luxor Governorate hosted the fourth edition at the beginning of 2018, Ismailia the fifth edition in December 2018, Suez the sixth edition in 2019, and Alexandria the seventh edition in 2022. And the New Administrative Capital, the eighth edition, in 2023.
