The Dubai International Marine Sports Club stated, in a press statement, that the event, organized by the Dubai International Marine Sports Club, achieved a technical and organizational success represented by the large participation, as the number of ships reached more than 70 ships, which sailed after raising the green flag from the depths of the Gulf waters. Al Arabi, opposite the waterfront of Danat Al Donia, Dubai, towards the finish line at Jumeirah Beaches and in front of the Burj Al Arab Hotel, covering more than 20 nautical miles.
The statement said: “The crew of the ship (Zelzal 25) needed two and a third hours to reach the finish line in the shortest way, as the experience of Al-Nukhatha and the crew played a role in achieving the victory, due to the change in speeds and direction of the (strong) winds, which forced the crew to use the skill ( Al-Khayur) several times to adjust the ship’s course, which was the same thing followed by the rest of the ships that arrived at the front.
After the end of the race, Mohammed Al Falahi, Board Member and Executive Director of the Dubai International Marine Sports Club, accompanied by Race Supervisor Mohammed Al Marri and Colonel Ali Al Naqbi of Dubai Police, crowned the winners of the race.
Al-Falahi congratulated the winners and the participants for safely reaching the finish line, praising the role of the success partners and their effective contribution that was behind ensuring the ships’ arrival to the finish line.
He stressed that the race is considered one of the true marine epics due to the difficulty of the course and the challenges that the crews faced throughout its stages in light of the fluctuations in wind speeds and direction, which created extreme excitement in the various stages until the finish line.
