Usually when light is reflected there is also a shadow along with the light. But zero shadow is when there is no shadow even in sunlight. The day of this strange incident is known as Zero Shadow Day. This year Zero Shadow Day took place in Bangalore. According to Astronomical Society of India scientists… Zero Shadow Day moves between Cancer and Capricorn twice a year. Therefore, for the people living in those areas, the declination of the sun in both Uttarayanam and Dakshinayanam is equal to the latitude of those areas. That is why the sun appears to be moving, so that even when the sun shines, there is no shadow.
Scientists said that zero shadow day occurs twice a year, once in Uttarayanam and once in Dakshinayanam. This phenomenon lasts only a fraction of a second, but its effects are said to be visible for up to one and a half minutes. Currently, videos and photos related to this are going viral on social media. Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bangalore has also organized a special program.
